A delightful black comedy that examines the true insanity of the American legal system, with Al Pacino (in his first comedy role ) as an honest lawyer who defends a hated judge (John Forsythe in a rare villainous role) in a rape trial. Written by then-husband-and-wife Barry Levinson and Valerie Curtin, this contains Pacino's much-parodied "You're out of order!" tirade at the climax. Also starring Jack Warden (as another judge prone to firing a gun in the courtroom), Christine Lahti (in her film debut), Lee Strasberg, Jeffrey Tambor and Sam Levene.
